Alumni weekend has come and gone and even rain couldn’t dampen the mood as an abundance of smiles and laughter greeted participants during reunion weekend 2006 held Oct. 20- 22.

Priscillia George, reunion chair, said, “This year’s reunion weekend has gone down in the books as one of the best ever! The variety of events, the number of classmates who attended, and a general feeling of fall in Blakely made it a weekend not to be missed.”

Over 160 alumni and guests returned for their 50th birthday celebration and reunion weekend. Activities began on Friday evening with an icebreaker at the Blakely Civic Center and continued Saturday evening with a reunion banquet at Early County Middle School.

Priscillia George offered welcoming remarks and Ethel Johnson Wolf and Odell Reddick served as emcees, entertaining alumni and guests throughout the evening.

The banquet focused on celebrating the 50th birthday of classmates and honoring teachers credited with providing a solid foundation for them. Wellington Burrell, former band instructor at Washington High School, was the guest speaker. He stated, “You must be true to yourself.” Catheryne Robinson, class reunion president offered closing remarks focusing on the weekend theme of “creating bonds that never end.”
