Bobcats win against Calhoun
Advance to semi-finals and the Georgia Dome
      The Early County Bobcats advanced to the semi finals of the state AA playoffs and the Georgia Dome with a convincing 20- 3 victory over the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. The Bobcats are now 11-2 on the year while the Yellow Jackets finished at 11-2.

SGA opens 2006-07 basketball season
      The SGA basketball teams kicked off the 2006- 2007 season Monday night in Dawson against Terrell Academy. The Lady Warriors had a very tough opponent for their first game of the year in the defending class A State Runner-up Lady Eagles. The Lady Warriors fell behind in the first half but fought their way back into the game in the second half.

Youth cheerleaders place first in competition
      The Early County ATeam traveled to Valdosta this past Saturday with four alternates to compete at the Winnersville National Championship. With six teams competing in the morning competition, they placed first in their division. They left Friday afternoon to participate in the day's activities and ended their night with a birthday party for one of their sponsors.

Basketball registration extended
      The Blakely - Early County Recreation Department has extended youth basketball registration for ages 5-17 through Friday, Dec. 8. Registration will be taken at the Recreation Department office Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. Applications are available at the office and at the Department's website at www.becrd.com.

GPB to broadcast GHSA football semi-finals live from Georgia Dome
      Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Georgia Public Broadcasting presents the Georgia High School Association Football Semi-Finals broadcast live from the Georgia Dome. The Class AA game with Charlton County Indians (13-0) vs. Early County Bobcats (11-2) is scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9.
