Schools closed Friday

Early County School Superintendent Betty Orange has notified the

News that Early County Schools will be closed Friday due to the Bobcats' playoff game Friday night in Calhoun, Ga.

"In the interest of the safety of our students, parents and other loyal Bobcat fans, the schools will be closed Friday," Mrs. Orange stated Monday. "We hope this will allow sufficient time to travel to Calhoun to support the Bobcats in the state playoffs."

Calhoun is located 55 miles north of Atlanta on I-75 - half way to the Tennessee state line. The 256-mile drive will take approximately 4.5 hours via I-85 to Atlanta and I- 285 around Atlanta to I- 75.

However, Atlanta's rush hour traffic could thwart travel plans, causing lengthy delays for fans approaching Atlanta after 3 p.m. Friday.

Fans are urged to carefully consider their departure times and routes.
