Five arrested Friday following drug bust Five suspects were jailed Friday when local authorities executed a search warrant at 485 Liberty Street. "We had been receiving a good bit of information about drug activity at that location," investigator Will Caudill told the News. Officers discovered large amounts of both marijuana and cocaine in the house, along with $2,000 cash. Three freezer bags of marijuana, a plastic bag containing cocaine along with a number of baggies containing cocaine, digital scales and boxes of freezer bags and baggies were confiscated along with the money. Enough drugs were found at the scene, including well over the 28 grams of cocaine required, that the four people in the house at the time of the search were charged with both possession of marijuana with intent to sell and trafficking cocaine. When officers arrived at the house Dantavious Ogden fled from the front yard and was apprehended a short distance away. He was charged with obstruction of an officer and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. As they entered the house, Clarence Kegler fled out the back door, but was immediately apprehended by officers outside. Arrested without incident were Emmanuel Kegler who lived at the house, Travis Ofton and Shawn Ofton. All four suspects were charged with both possession of marijuana with intent to sell and trafficking cocaine. In addition, Clarence Kegler, who is already on probation for previous drug convictions, and Emmanuel Kegler, who is on parole for previous drug convictions, were also charged with possession of tools for commission of a crime. Both Keglers and both Oftons are being held without bond until they appear before a Superior Court judge for a bond hearing. According to the incident report, authorities also found L.A. Stapleton under the house drinking beer. Stapleton was taken into custody along with the others, but later released without charges. |
